City of Fort Lauderdale Summer Sailing Camp
Lauderdale Yacht Club Sailing Foundation (LYCSF) supports the children of our city by working with the City of Ft. Lauderdale to provide summer beginner sailing camps. The LYCSF believes that every child should have the opportunity to sail no matter their socioeconomic situation. We provide funding to more than 30 kids ages 7-12 for four (4) two-week summer sailing camps. The camps focus on teaching sailing skills for beginners. New sailors will learn to steer and trim sails, identify the parts of a sailboat, tie knots, work as team, engage in friendly competition, and learn about the environment. This program is designed to teach children self-reliance and build self-esteem through sailing and boat care. The curriculum incorporates fun games and activities to reinforce the sailing lessons.
Funding is provided by LYCSF to any student who qualifies for aid under the city’s Youth Enrichment Scholarship (Y.E.S). We are proud to be a part of our community’s youth sailing program in partnership with Coral Ridge Yacht Club Sailing and Water Sport Foundation (CRYCSWSF) and City of Ft. Lauderdale Parks & Recreation. For more information and to apply for camp for a child, visit the City of Fort Lauderdale Parks & Recreation Camps page.
