[Fort Lauderdale, FL] – The LYC Sailing Foundation (LYCSF) is thrilled to announce a generous $10,000
grant from the Community Foundation of Broward. This impactful contribution will allow LYCSF to expand its youth sailing programs, providing educational and leadership opportunities through sailing for 60 underserved children in Broward County.
“We are incredibly grateful for the support of the Community Foundation of Broward and the incredible
generosity of the LaVere G. and Mabel R. White Fund, the Kresge Unrestricted Fund, the Mary and Alex
Mackenzie Community Impact Fund, and The Frederick A. Deluca Foundation Broward Community Fund,” said Beth Rielly, Chair of the LYC Sailing Foundation.
This $10,000 grant will be used in a two-pronged approach:
- Partnership with the City of Fort Lauderdale: LYCSF will partner with the City of Fort Lauderdale to
provide sailing instruction and mentorship to 60 underserved children. This program will focus on
building teamwork, fostering environmental awareness, and promoting healthy lifestyles through the sport of sailing. - Scholarship Program: Scholarships will be awarded to fifth-grade students at local schools, including New River Middle School, Sagemont School, Indian Trace, St. Anthony’s Catholic, Harbordale Elementary, and Virginia Schuman Young. These scholarships will remove financial barriers and allow students to participate in LYCSF’s existing sailing programs.
“This grant is a game-changer for LYCSF,” Rielly continued. “It allows us to share our passion for sailing with awider range of young people in Broward County. By providing these educational and leadership opportunities, we hope to empower these children and inspire them to reach their full potential.”
