Street Art Regatta

StAR is an opportunity for young athletes in the smallest international sailboat racing class, the Optimist Dinghy, to physically maneuver their painted sails of massive human feet, creating the illusion that the sailboats are dancing. StAR artists and athletes had one directive, work together to imagine the ocean surface as a floor for human movement.
April 29, 2021 is the official launch of StAR, which will include a number of future cultural events and conservation initiatives. Attendance is limited due to CDC guidelines. All guests must socially distance and wear masks.
We thank the Lauderdale Yacht Club and LYC Sailing Foundation, the Broward County Cultural Division, and the Florida Division of Cultural Affairs for their generous support of this inaugural event.
Registration is required for entry and all guests.
Should rain be forecasted, we will contact registrants a day before with instructions, including a rain-date .
Stay connected to Grace Arts Center’s website below for directions to a live stream option . We are likely to reach event capacity before April 29.
If you like what you see – donations are possible through the month of May for the next StAR sailing event! Simply Register and choose the Donation button whether you have registered to attend or not.
